Let them grow together until the harvest
From the Gospel of Matthew
He proposed another parable to them : « The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. And while the people slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went away. And when the stalk grew and produced the ear, then the tares also appeared : « The servants of the master came and said to him, ‘Lord, did you not sow good seed in your field ? Where did the tares come from ?’. He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this. The servants said to him, ‘So do you want us to go and take it away ? He said, ‘No, lest, when you remove the tares, you pull up the wheat at the same time. Let them grow together until the harvest ; and in the time of harvest I will say to them : First remove the chaff, bind it in bundles to burn it; and the wheat, bring it into my barn. »
He proposed another parable to them : « The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed that a man has sown in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown, it overtakes the other vegetable plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the sky make their nests in its branches ». He told them another parable : « The Kingdom of Heaven is like leaven, which a woman buries in three large measures of flour until the whole dough has leavened ».
All this Jesus spoke to the crowd in parables, and he said nothing to them without using parables, thus fulfilling the word of the prophet, « I will speak in parables, and will proclaim things hidden from the beginning.
So he left the crowd and came home. His disciples came to him and said, « Explain to us clearly the parable of the tares in the field ». He answered them, « He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man; the field is the world; the good seed are the sons of the Kingdom ; the tares are the sons of the wicked. The enemy who sowed it is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; the reapers are the angels.
Just as tares are removed and thrown into the fire, so shall it be at the end of the world. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will take out of his kingdom all those who cause others to fall and those who do evil, and they will cast them into the furnace: there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine as the sun in their Father’s kingdom. He that hath ears, let him hear ». (Mt 13:24-43)

Everything contributes to the good of those who love God
Today, Christ. Christ, always. We come from Him ; from Him come all the good things sown in our lives. God visits us, says the Kempis, through consolation and desolation, the sweet and the bitter, the flower and the thorn, the cold and the heat, beauty and suffering, joy and sorrow, courage and fear… for all has been redeemed by Christ (He too has known fear and overcome it). As St. Paul says: « Everything contributes to the good of those who love God » (Rom 8, 28).
This is all very well, but… there is a mystery of iniquity that does not come from God, which goes beyond us and devastates this garden of God that is the Church. We would like God to be more powerful, more present, to command more and not to let these desolate forces act: « Do you want us to go and gather up the weeds ? « (Mt 13, 28).
This is what Pope John Paul II said in his last book Memory and Identity: « Let us patiently bear God’s mercy, who waits until the last moment to offer salvation to all souls, especially to those most in need of his mercy (« Let them both grow until the harvest. (Mt 13:30). And since He is the Lord of the life of each person, He respects our freedom, so that – at the same time as the trial – He gives us a superabundant grace to resist, to sanctify ourselves, to go to Him, to be a permanent offering, to make the Kingdom grow. »
Christ, the divine teacher, introduces us to the school of life through every encounter and every event. He comes out to meet us and tells us: « Do not be afraid; be courageous; I have conquered the world and I am with you until the end of time. (Jn 16:33; Mt 28:20). He also tells us: « Do not judge, but rather do as I do, have hope, trust, pray for those who are in error, sanctify them as parts of yourselves that deserve your full attention because they are part of your own body ».
Jesus, make me understand that the only error in our lives is not to become holy. If this life is given to us to know and love you, then whatever I do, let me do it with you and for you. Let me know and love you
